The Technichal School for Agriculture in Pyhra, Lower Austria, manages several experimental plots for different agricultural management systems on an overall area of 161 ha. It is situated on the North-Eastern edge of the Alps in the Flysch zone. Hence, the soils are gleyic Luvisols.
For the project SPorDyn, the following plots are of main interest:
- a long-term tillage experiment:
installed 2000, 8 different treatments,
- recent land-use changes:
cropped acre -> energy wood plantation, Popolus sp., planted 2003, planned rotation 15 years
cropped acre -> christmas tree plantation, Abies sp., planted 2011, inter-plant space mowed once a year
